Background and Early Heroics
Born a slave on Tatooine to Shmi Skywalker, Anakin was discovered as a child prodigy believed to be the Chosen One destined to bring balance to the Force. Under the tutelage of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin matured into a legendary Jedi Knight and a hero of the Clone Wars, respected for his piloting, lightsaber skill, and unorthodox bravery.
Fall to the Dark Side
Despite his talents, Anakin struggled deeply with fear of loss and uncontrolled attachments—especially toward his secret wife, Padmé Amidala. Haunted by prophetic nightmares of Padmé’s death in childbirth, and influenced by the manipulative Supreme Chancellor Palpatine (secretly Darth Sidious), Anakin’s anxiety grew into desperation. Seduced by promises of forbidden power and the ability to save Padmé, Anakin betrayed Mace Windu, turning on the Jedi Council and pledging himself to Sidious as the Sith Lord, Darth Vader.
At Sidious’s command, he led the assault on the Jedi Temple, slaughtering Jedi—including younglings—and then executed the Separatist leaders on Mustafar, ending the Clone Wars with extreme brutality. In a tragic encounter, he fought Obi-Wan Kenobi, losing the duel, his limbs, and nearly his life to the fires of Mustafar. Rescued and encased in cybernetic armor, Anakin was reborn as the fearsome Darth Vader.
